Lumen partners with Google Cloud to build Digital Twin

EPA-EFE/JEROME FAVRE

Lumen Technologies Inc. announced on Tuesday that it is partnering with Google Cloud to enhance Artificial Intelligence for IT operations (AIOps) and provide proactive data insights across its network as part of Lumen's ongoing efforts to boost operational efficiencies.

The American telecommunications company plans to use Google Cloud's infrastructure, databases, and BigQuery analytics platform to develop the Lumen Digital Twin, an AI-driven solution that provides real-time network insights. This will allow Lumen to identify and resolve network issues before they can affect customers. The company will also increase its operational efficiency and cut costs by using Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform and Gemini models to avoid unnecessary technician dispatches and improve website search functionality.

"Google Cloud's expertise and AI technologies are key enablers for our company, allowing us to use our Lumen Digital Twin network technology to test new capabilities and improvements before we deploy them," Lumen's Chief Technology and Product Officer Dave Ward said.
