Lutnick: Tariffs take effect on August 1

United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick told reporters that the higher trade tariffs will take effect on August 1.

Lutnick also stated that US President Donald Trump was "setting the rates and the deals right now."

Trump said that the US was close to finishing negotiations on a number of trade deals and would notify countries of higher tariff rates by July 9.
