French President Emmanuel Macron will not announce the new French prime minister during his address to the nation later today, BFM TV reported on Thursday, citing concordant sources.
Macron is set to address the nation today at 8:00 pm local time, after the recent no-confidence vote led to French Prime Minister Michel Barnier being overthrown, making him the shortest-serving prime minister in the country's history.
The French president is expected to name Barnier's successor in the coming days after accepting the outgoing prime minister's resignation earlier today. Macron also stated that he would not step down as president after a majority of French people expressed their desire for him to resign.
