French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that he asked that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen accompany him on a trip to China in early April.
Speaking at the press conference following the European Union summit in Brussels, the French head of state described that the visit would represent "a united [European] voice" in Beijing.
Last month, Macron revealed his plans to visit China in an attempt to help end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This week, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow for the first time since securing a third term in office, and held talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
