French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the fall of the Syrian regime led by President Bashar al-Assad, calling it the end of a "barbaric state."
Speaking after rebel forces entered Damascus and toppled Assad, Macron praised the resilience of the Syrian people. "I pay tribute to the Syrian people, to their courage, to their patience," the French leader said. He expressed hope for "peace, freedom and unity" in the country during this period of uncertainty.
Macron also reaffirmed France's commitment to stability in the entire Middle East, emphasizing the importance of "security" in this region.
