French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that he is ready to dialogue with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin if such a conversation could contribute to ending the war in Ukraine.
"Of course, I will speak with Vladimir Putin again if such a conversation is useful for negotiations on resolving the situation in Ukraine," Macron stated in an interview with French regional press. However, he emphasized that Russia poses "an existential threat" to European countries "given the actions it carries out in various areas."
The French leader further said that France does not plan to deploy ground troops to the conflict zones in Ukraine, but he revealed that Paris is considering sending "experts or even troops in limited terms, outside any conflict zone."
