French President Emmanuel Macron called on Sunday for de-escalation and "maximum restraint from Iran in these dangerous circumstances" to make way for a diplomatic solution to the crisis linked to its nuclear program.
"Dialogue, a clear commitment to renounce nuclear weapons – or risk a worst-case scenario for the entire region. This is the only path to peace and security for all," Macron said.
Macron's written statement came following his calls with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), Omani Sultan Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. Their countries all condemned the United States' strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.
