French President Emmanuel Macron (pictured left) held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (pictured right) and urged him to make every effort to avoid further escalation of the Middle East conflict, according to a statement by the French presidency.
Additionally, Macron stressed that France seeks to see an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after the Hamas-run Health Ministry said that the total number of Palestinians killed in the enclave since the start of the war has reached 34,151.
The French head of state further said that his country is engaged in attempts to ease tensions resulting from ongoing confrontations between Israeli military and Hezbollah on the Israeli-Lebanese border.
