French President Emmanuel Macron stated France didn't join the United Kingdom and United States coalition to attack Yemen-based Houthis to avoid any further "escalation" in the region, AFP reported.

"France has decided not to join a coalition that has carried out pre-emptive strikes against the Houthis on their soil," Macron said, with the reason behind the reluctance being France's political position that seeks to avoid any deepening of the conflict.

Macron stressed the subject in question was diplomatic in nature, dismissing the notion the issue should be treated militarily.
