French President Emmanuel Macron called on Israel to "immediately stop" any attacks not connected to Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities, following the Defense and Security Council meeting held at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday.
"The President of the Republic stressed that a lasting settlement of the nuclear and ballistic programme can only be reached through negotiations. He also recalled France's willingness to engage in an uncompromising dialogue with Iran on its regional destabilization activities," according to the Elysee's official statement.
Further, France will propose a "demanding negotiated settlement" between Israel and Iran, the palace stated. Macron also directed the Foreign Ministry to "facilitate the departure" of French citizens wishing to depart Iran or Israel.
