Maduro, Cuban FM congratulate Putin on re-election

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez extended their congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday for winning the country's presidential election.

"On behalf of the Venezuelan people, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro congratulates President Vladimir Putin and his political movement on the landslide election win and his reelection as Russia’s president for 2024-30," the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Meanwhile, Rodriguez stated in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that Putin's re-election displays a "reliable example of the recognition of the Russian people to his management." Both countries expressed their desire to bolster ties with Russia.

Earlier, Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that Putin secured 87.17% of the votes, with 70.03% of the ballots officially counted.
