A.P. Moller-Maersk’s Chief Executive Officer Vincent Clerc (pictured) said that shipping companies and businesses in general will continue facing challenges in transportation as the ongoing situation in the Red Sea will persist into the third quarter of 2024.

"These disruptions, and the impact they are having on your business, is not something that I, nor any colleagues at Maersk, take lightly. We know it is hard. We know it is difficult for you. We know it puts you under a lot of pressure," Clerc said during an online meeting with customers. He warned that in the coming months, the company will have either unfilled positions or ships that are significantly different in size from the usual operations, limiting the capacity to meet the demand.

Clerc stressed that Maersk will come back to the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden when "the safety of seafarers, vessels, and cargo was guaranteed."
