United States Senator Joe Manchin (pictured left) accused President Joe Biden and his administration of "betrayal" over the Treasury Department's implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act and its most important provisions on electric vehicle tax credit.

"Instead of implementing the law as intended, unelected ideologues, bureaucrats and appointees seem determined to violate and subvert the law to advance a partisan agenda that ignores both energy and fiscal security. Specifically, they are ignoring the law's intent to support and expand fossil energy and are redefining 'domestic energy' to increase clean-energy spending to potentially deficit-breaking levels," the Democrat wrote in an opinion article for The Wall Street Journal.

At a separate event hosted by Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE), Manchin pointed out he is "willing to go to court" over his concerns. The West Virginia lawmaker's support was essential when the bill passed the Senate and its final version was a result of his direct negotiations with Biden.
