Manhattan shooter 'neutralized,' police official says

The "lone" gunman who shot at least three people in midtown Manhattan has been "neutralized," New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

"At this time, the scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralized," Tisch wrote on X. The New York Police Department (NYPD) officer who was shot in the incident has died, CNN said, citing a law enforcement official.

Unconfirmed reports claim that four people have been killed in total, including the suspect. Meanwhile, NBC News reported, citing four unnamed NYC officials, that the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
