The Eurozone's consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.2% in March on a yearly basis, Eurostat confirmed in its second report on Wednesday, down from 2.3% in February.
Annual inflation in the European Union stood at 2.5%, compared to 2.7% in February. Among member states, Romania saw the highest inflation at 5.1%, followed by Hungary at 4.8% and Poland at 4.4%. France had the lowest rate at 0.9%, followed by Denmark at 1.4%.
On a monthly basis, the euro area CPI grew by 0.6%, while the EU's CPI was up by 0.5%. Annual core inflation, excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco was measured at 2.4% in the Eurozone, while the monthly rise in the core CPI was 1%, unchanged from the preliminary report.
