An informed source from Iran's crisis management told Fars news agency on Saturday that 47 people were initially reported injured after a massive explosion and fire struck the Shahid Rajaei port in Bandar Abbas on Saturday.

Port activities were suspended as authorities worked to contain the blaze. State media said the blast occurred at the port’s dock, with firefighting efforts ongoing. Esmaeil Malekizadeh, a senior Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Administration official, confirmed the cause of the explosion remains unknown.

Shahid Rajaei port, located over 1,000 kilometers south of Tehran, mainly handles container traffic and has oil and petrochemical facilities. Social media videos showed thick black smoke rising from the area.
