Mazda Motor Corp. and Toyota Motor Corp. will equip their main car models with the second-level automated driving technology by 2022, Nikkei reported on Tuesday.
On a five-level scale, the second-degree tech enables "hands-free driving on highways," but still forces the driver to do most of the operating, the outlet explained.
Toyota's first model with the new changes will be the Crown, while Mazda will install the new systems across a range of its "medium-size and large sport utility vehicles," the report concluded.
