Mazda Motor Corporation will recall nearly 70,000 cars in the United States due to a fuel leaks issue which may result in fires, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday.
The vehicles affected are RX-8 sports car models from 2004 to 2008 and the company decided to recall them because there is a possibility of fuel pump sealing rings cracking when exposed to heat, which can lead to an increased risk of catching fire. Car owners will be offered replacement sealing rings and fuel tank insulation by the car dealers.
Earlier this year, Mazda recalled over two million vehicles worldwide as a result of potential issues with rear doors and diesel engines.
