House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said on Monday that Congressional leaders didn't reach an agreement on raising the debt ceiling after today's negotiation round, however noting that decisions will have to start being made in the upcoming days.

The meetings of the negotiating teams were productive, McCarthy explained, adding that legislators would continue working until they reached a bipartisan deal. "The president has to be serious ... We could get a deal tonight, we could get a deal tomorrow," the Republican speaker insisted.

McCarthy and President Joe Biden are scheduled to meet later this afternoon. Commenting on the June deadline, McCarthy asserted it is "still possible" to get a bill through Congress by next week.
