McCarthy: Biden should urge Hamas head extradition

Member of the United States House of Representatives from California Kevin McCarthy stated at a press conference on Monday that President Joe Biden should demand the extradition of Hamas Chairman Ismail Haniyeh.

Commenting on the ongoing clashes in and near the Gaza Strip, McCarthy stressed that not foreseeing Hamas's initial attacks was not just Israel's "failure" but also a US one and wondered why the intelligence community did not see them coming. He insisted that the Israeli army must not be left without ammunition, which, as he claimed, the US did not restock sufficiently after sending some to Ukraine, and that the crisis cannot turn into a new Afghanistan.

McCarthy also criticized Iran's alleged role in the fights, calling for more sanctions on that country's oil exports.
