United States House Speaker Kevin McCarthy slammed on Tuesday the Department of Justice (DoJ) for giving President Joe Biden's son Hunter a "sweetheart deal" by reportedly reaching an agreement on him pleading guilty to three federal charges.
"If you're Biden's leading political opponent, the DOJ will try to put you in prison," McCarthy tweeted, seemingly alluding to the federal case against former President Donald Trump.
"Now, this does nothing to our investigation. It actually should enhance our investigations because the DoJ should not be able to withhold any information now saying that because of pending investigation. They should be able to provide [House Oversight Committee] Chairman [James] Comer with any information that he requires," he added in a video of him talking to reporters attached in the tweet.
