Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (pictured) urged his GOP peers on Wednesday to endorse the omnibus government funding bill, particularly the almost $45 billion in aid to Ukraine.
"The most basic reasons for continuing to help Ukraine degrade and defeat the Russian invaders are cold, hard, practical, American interests," he said on the Senate, adding that supporting Kiev will show the country's commitment to the "integrity and national sovereignty."
McConnell's remarks come moments after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the US on a visit that will be used to "hold a series of negotiations to strengthen the resilience and defense capabilities of Ukraine," as stated by Zelensky.
