Meloni: Russia needs to make concrete commitment to peace

Italy has called on Russia to make a tangible commitment toward peace in Ukraine, according to a statement released after a meeting between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Palazzo Chigi on Saturday.

During the talks, Meloni reiterated the Italian government's firm condemnation of recent Russian attacks and underlined the urgency of achieving an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. She welcomed Ukraine's full readiness to halt hostilities.

Both leaders reaffirmed their support for President Donald Trump's "efforts reach a just and lasting peace, able to guarantee a future of security, sovereignty and freedom for Ukraine."
