Mercedes-Benz Group said Wednesday that demand for electric cars fell 6% in the fiscal second quarter of 2024, promising to make up lost territory with increased availability and market launches.
The automaker said it sold 600,100 vehicles in the same quarter. Of those, 51,000 were battery electric cars, representing a year-on-year decline of 23%.
"The ramp-up of electric vehicles slowed in key markets, while the company focused on healthy growth in a market environment characterized by heavy discounting," Mercedes declared in a statement.
