Mercedes-Benz Group AG revealed on Monday that it will begin with level 3 (L3) autonomous driving tests on designated highways in Beijing, becoming one of the first companies to secure approval from Chinese authorities for such testing.
However, the German carmaker did not provide an exact timeline of when the testing could start. The company's announcement came through its WeChat profile.
China also granted approval to Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) last week for L3 self-driving vehicles on high-speed roads in Shanghai.
