German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in a speech on Wednesday that the coronavirus pandemic represents the biggest challenge for the country since the Second World War.
Merkel stressed that the spread of the virus has to be curbed and suppressed until a vaccine is developed.
The chancellor also urged against hoarding supplies of groceries and called it "pointless," and showing "a complete lack of solidarity."
