Meta's President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg (pictured), announced Thursday that he will step down after seven years with the company.
Clegg, a former UK deputy prime minister, will be succeeded by Joel Kaplan, a prominent Republican and Meta's current Global Public Policy Vice President. Clegg described the timing of his departure as ideal: "Joel is quite clearly the right person for the right job at the right time."
Kaplan's appointment coincides with Meta's closer alignment with Republican leadership following CEO Mark Zuckerberg's recent meeting with President-elect Donald Trump.
