Meta Platforms Inc.'s President of Global Affairs Nick Clegg said Tuesday to Axios that the company intends to formally close CrowdTangle which is the platform extensively used by journalists and researchers to monitor trending content on Facebook and Instagram.
The tool that can be used in 180 different languages will stop being available by August 14, leaving those in search of that type of info the alternative of turning to third-party social media analytics tools like Sprout Social and NewsWhip to access trends data.
"What you're seeing now is we're building out a number of tools methodically to create coherent, rigorous and comprehensive access to data in a way which I really believe will do a lot to put the relationship between Meta and the research community on a more stable footing," Clegg added.
