Meta Platforms Inc. announced on Tuesday new changes for Facebook live broadcasts, starting February 19. Live videos will be available for replay, download, or sharing for 30 days, after which they will be automatically deleted. Users will receive notifications via email and in the app before deletion, giving them 90 days to act.
In a press release, Meta said all live videos older than 30 days will be removed in waves over the coming months, and users will no longer have access to them. However, it will launch new tools that will allow users to download or transfer old live content to cloud storage or save it as a reel.
For added flexibility, a six-month delay option will be offered for those who need more time. After this period, videos that remain undeleted will be permanently removed.
