Mexican Economic Minister Ildefonso Guajardo (pictured left) stated on Sunday its trade negotiations with the United States on North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) are in its "final hours," media reported. The minister also noted that once the deal with the US is struck, the negotiations with Canada will most likely take at least another week.

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of reaching a trade deal with Mexico in the near future. The president added that the relationship between the to countries is "getting closer by the hour."

The NAFTA negotiations have been going on for over a year and over the course of the negotiations, Trump indicated that he would also be open to bilateral deals with America's closest neighbors. The president said a deal with Mexico seems more likely than a deal with Canada. Meanwhile, Mexico is asking for all parties to be more "flexible" in the talks.
