Microsoft to open first data center region in Thailand

Microsoft Corporation plans to open first Thailand's data center region in order to expand cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, the company's CEO Satya Nadella announced in Bangkok on Wednesday.

Additionally, Nadella said that the tech giant will provide AI training for more than 100,000 individuals in Thailand. "Our new data center region, along with the investments we are making in cloud and AI infrastructure, as well as AI skilling, build on our long-standing commitment to the country," he stated.

Nadella is expected to meet with Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, who has worked in recent years to boost investments in digital and cloud infrastructure in the country.
