White House medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Wednesday that the United States has exited the "pandemic" coronavirus phase, however noting that COVID-19 has been transitioning toward becoming an endemic disease.
"Namely, we don’t have 900,000 new infections a day and tens and tens and tens of thousands of hospitalizations and thousands of deaths. We are at a low level right now," Fauci said in an interview for PBS NewsHour.
However, Fauci argued that the US would have to vaccinate its citizens at a specific frequency to maintain low levels of infections, possibly once a year.
