Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during a joint press conference with United States President Donald Trump that their respective countries will work to more than double bilateral trade to "attain $500 billion by 2030."
Modi also said India will work jointly with the US in several fields, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors and biotechnology. He added that the two countries will be working on forming strong supply chains for critical minerals, advanced materials and pharmaceuticals. Trump then announced that he and Modi reached a deal on energy that would "restore the US as a leading supplier of oil and gas to India." Additionally, Trump said that the two countries will build "one of the greatest trade routes" that will run from "India to Israel, to Italy and onward to the US, connecting our partners by ports, railways and undersea cables."
"India is also reforming its laws to welcome US nuclear technology," Trump stated, adding that the US and India are joining forces to "ensure that AI and other advanced technologies are developed by the two of the most advanced nations intellectually and technologically."
