Russian President Vladimir Putin's foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov on Thursday expressed hope that the United States will consider Moscow's demands for a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

"We have spoken at various levels, including the presidents, and they know our position," Ushakov said in an interview with the state-owned Russia-1 television channel. "I would like to believe that this position will be taken into account in the course of further work," he added.

Furthermore, the official insisted that he informed US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz that Russia seeks a long-term solution to the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, stressing that a temporary ceasefire would be "nothing more than a temporary respite for the Ukrainian military."
