Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova welcomed on Thursday United States President Joe Biden's decision to remove Cuba from the "State Sponsors of Terrorism" list, calling the move correct but "insufficient."

During a press briefing, she explained that while "these steps are steps in the right direction," this is not enough, as the country still remains under many other sanctions Washington imposed.

"Lifting this blockade is imperative," Zakharova stressed, adding that Moscow will continue to stand by the Cubans and advocate for an "immediate and complete end to the American embargo."
