Most Asian shares traded higher on Friday, the last trading day of 2021, with increased restrictions boosting investors' hopes about countries tackling outbreaks of the Omicron strain of COVID-19 this holiday season.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite inched 0.39% higher at 4:30 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite up by 0.09% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up by 1.43% at 4:32 am CET, as the dollar stood 0.01% higher against the yen, going for ¥115.0865. At 4:17 am CET, the Australian S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.92%.
Markets in Japan and South Korea are closed for the holidays.
