Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's X has supposedly agreed to pay $10 million to settle a lawsuit brought forward in 2021 by United States President Donald Trump against the company, which was called Twitter at the time, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Trump filed the lawsuit against Twitter and its then CEO Jack Dorsey when he was de-platformed by the company over his role in the January 6 riot at the US Capitol in 2021. Musk brought Trump back on the social media platform in November 2022.
Trump's team is said to have considered letting the lawsuit "fizzle out," due to Musk's ties with the president and the fact that he spent $250 million to help Trump's election efforts, but ultimately chose to go forward with the settlement, the news agency said.
