According to a court filing disclosed on Monday, billionaire Elon Musk's lawyers subpoenaed Peiter Zatko, Twitter's former security chief. Previously Mr. Zatko said in a whistle-blower complaint that Twitter had misled Musk about spam accounts on the platform.
The new move could indicate that Musk may try to leverage Mr. Zatko's allegations of false statements and safety deficiencies at Twitter as an attempt to break up a deal he made to buy the social media company for $44 billion.
Meanwhile, United States Senate Judiciary Committee revealed last week it would hold a hearing with Twitter Inc's former head of security on September 13.
