Musk calls Meta's WhatsApp 'spyware'

EPA-EFE/FILIP SINGER

X Corp. Chairman Elon Musk criticized Meta Platforms Inc.'s WhatsApp, labeling the messaging service as "spyware."

His comment came after a user on X, formerly Twitter, reported seeing suitcase ads on Instagram right after discussing suitcases on WhatsApp, despite WhatsApp's claim of end-to-end encryption. Responding to the user's tweet questioning this, Musk simply stated, "It's spyware."

Musk previously warned of WhatsApp's security risks.
