Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), said in a Fox News interview that the amount of government waste found by the department is "astonishing."

"The sheer amount of waste and fraud in the government. It is astonishing. It's mind-blowing. We routinely encounter wastes of a billion dollars or more, casually," Musk stressed.

When asked about DOGE critics, Musk said that he agrees that the department needs to exercise caution when making cuts. "We need to measure twice, if not thrice and cut once," Musk said. "That is our approach and they may characterize it as shooting from the hip, but it's not that," he stressed.
