Musk says no deal signed with Telegram

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk said that "no deal has been signed" between his artificial intelligence company, xAI and Telegram.

The brief statement on X came in response to Telegram founder Pavel Durov's announcement of a one-year partnership with xAI to bring the Grok chatbot to the messaging app's billion-plus user base. The deal would also see Telegram gaining $300 million in cash and equity from xAI and 50% of revenue from xAI subscriptions sold via Telegram, as outlined in Durov's announcement on X earlier on Wednesday.

Musk's clarification offered no further details, nor did it divulge the state of the potential deal, but it did prompt Durov to issue his own response, again on X. "True. Agreed in principle, but formalities are pending," he said in response to Musk.
