Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of media giant X, took to his account on Monday to criticize Romania’s reported plans to suspend TikTok, calling out the move as an attempt at censorship.
"You can tell who the bad guys are by who is demanding censorship," Musk posted responding to reports that the government may block the platform until state institutions complete their investigation into the first round of presidential elections.
On Sunday, violent protests erupted after the Electoral Commission rejected the candidacy of frontrunner Calin Georgescu in a move that Musk deemed "crazy." Georgescu had previously secured the most votes in the November presidential election, but the Constitutional Court later annulled the results, citing election interference.
