United States President Joe Biden met with Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin virtually on Thursday, after visiting leader’s positive test for COVID-19 stopped them from marking St. Patrick’s Day at the White House.
During the virtual meeting, the two leaders discussed recent events in Ukraine, and both condemned Russian operations. Biden said: "We're meeting at a moment when demands on unity in the world are really accelerating. We have to be united. We certainly are. But Putin's brutality, and what he's doing, what his troops are doing in Ukraine is just inhumane." Martin saluted Biden’s actions against what he called an "unjustifiable and immoral war."
This statement comes after Biden publicly called Russian President Vladimir Putin a "war criminal" the previous day.
