Twitter Inc. CEO Elon Musk said that all candidates for the 2024 United States presidential election are "most welcome" on Twitter. Earlier in the day, he hosted a Twitter Spaces event in which Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced he is running for the Republican nomination. However, the event was plagued by technical issues, forcing Musk to end it and start another one before DeSantis was able to speak.

According to DeSantis' press secretary Bryan Griffin, the Republican raised $1 million online following his Twitter appearance. "There was so much enthusiasm for Governor DeSantis’ vision for our Great American Comeback that he literally busted up the internet," he said.
