Musk: DOGE changes 'likely' to remain

EPA-EFE/SAMUEL CORUM

Elon Musk stated during an interview on Fox News that while he and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) would prefer their regulations to be "enshrined in law," he believed the changes they made were "likely to remain in place."

Musk called the improvements "very basic things," mentioning the US Treasury Department financial system, which, according to him, has "a better understanding of how and why payments are made." He talked about "the fact that payments now must have a payment code that corresponds to a Congressional appropriation and must have an explanation for the payment and someone to call to ask about the payment."

Musk stated that his department "made those changes to the system, they weren't there before," saying that the changes DOGE has made "will enable the government to actually pass an audit."
