Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk said on Wednesday that establishing a regulatory agency centered on artificial intelligence is "likely at some point."
"The consequences of AI going wrong are severe. We have to be proactive rather than reactive," he told reporters following a meeting with other technology leaders and United States lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
He described the meeting as a "civilized discussion among some of the smartest people in the world" and claimed it "may go down in history as being very important for the future of civilization," commending Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for organizing the event. There was a "strong consensus... that there should be some AI regulation," Musk noted.
