Elon Musk responded to a question concerning Tesla cars being lit on fire and alleged threats of assassination against him and his family during an interview on Fox, saying that "it turns out when you take away people's money that they're receiving fraudulently, they get very upset."

"It's come as a great shock to me that there is a great deal of hatred and violence from the left. I always thought that the left, Democrats, were supposed to be the party of empathy, the party of caring and yet they're burning down cars, they're firebombing dealerships, firing bullets into dealerships," Musk said, adding that "Tesla is a peaceful company. "We've never done anything harmful, I've never done anything harmful, I've only done productive things."

Musk also said that he thinks "there are larger forces at work as well," asking who's funding and who's coordinating all of it.
