Tesla Inc. CEO, X.AI Corp. founder, and billionaire Elon Musk said on Thursday at the VivaTech conference that he was surprised when the Biden administration announced tariffs on electric vehicles coming from China.
"Neither Tesla nor I asked for these tariffs," he remarked, further stating that he favors "no tariffs and no incentives for electric vehicles, or for oil and gas." "Tesla competes quite well in the market in China with no tariffs and no deferential support," he asserted.
On a different topic, when an audience member asked Musk whether he is worried artificial intelligence will take his job in the future, he noted that he believes "long term, in a benign scenario, any job that somebody does will be optional." "If you want to do a job as a hobby, you can do a job. But otherwise, AI and robots will provide any goods and services that you want," he remarked.
