Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk wrote on his X social media profile that his Starlink internet constellation system "will probably" handle "over 90% of all space-based Internet traffic next year."
Musk called the satellite system "the only high-bandwidth Internet system that covers all of Earth," responding to a previous comment stating it currently operates 6350 satellites in orbit, 6290 of which are in function.
Starlink Services LLC, which is operated by Musk-owned Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, known as SpaceX, has gained increasing importance for space-based global communication. It also plays an important role in the Ukraine conflict where it is widely used by both Ukrainian and Russian forces.
