North Korea has built a "tactical nuclear attack submarine," according to the Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the country's ruling party.

The North's Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un reportedly attended the launch ceremony on September 6 and revealed that the government intends to provide the nation's navy with more vessels equipped with tactical nuclear weapons.

The nuclear arming of the navy is an "urgent task" that cannot be postponed, the state media quoted him as saying.
